Corsican sheep are a species of wild sheep from the French island of Corsica just off the coast of Italy. This species developed from the cross of wild Mouflon sheep with a variety of domesticated, wool breeds of sheep. The resulting coloring patterns are various mixes of dark and light colors, yet the most prevalent color pattern is the Barbados Blackbelly sheep coloring. Their varied coats and colors aid in camouflaging into their natural surroundings. Corsican sheep range in size anywhere from 80 to 160 pounds. They sport impressive curved horns that often span up to 30 inches or more. Like most Corsican sheep, they thrive in rocky, rugged terrain and are exceptional climbers.
